24 Days

Synopsis

When Ilan Halimi is kidnapped for ransom because he is Jewish and supposedly rich, his family and the police start a race against time to save him. Based on a shocking true story, the film tracks the massive but futile investigation doomed by near-misses and a failure to recognize the case as a hate crime. Powerless loved ones have no choice but to put their trust in the hands of authorities, even as they are tormented by invective-laced phone calls from the captors. 24 Days raises troubling questions about anti-Semitism and race relations in today's France.

Jewish Experience Award, Jerusalem International Film Festival.
